Mission

The History Department supports 缅北强奸's mission of creating an engaged learning community advancing education and knowledge, enhancing civic and cultural awareness and fostering partnerships through comprehensive outreach programs. We prepare individuals to live wisely in a diverse and global community by teaching students to understand, analyze and interpret the past, evaluate critically the ways in which the past shapes the current world and develop the skills that allow them to communicate their knowledge and ideas effectively. Faculty activity promotes regional, national and global historical discovery, which is shared with students and the broader community through teaching, scholarship and participation in activities designed to increase general interest in history and broaden understanding of past human activity.

  1. Students will successfully complete a diverse curriculum of courses of wide ranging chronological and geographical spans, and methodological approaches.
  2. At the completion of this program students will be able to demonstrate the ability to place events into historical context.
  3. At the completion of this program students will be able to exhibit an understanding of the connection between historical events, ideas, civic and cultural issues.
  4. At the completion of this program students will be able to recognize and distinguish between primary and secondary sources of all kinds.
  5. At the completion of this program students will be able to exhibit information literacy.
  6. At the completion of this program students will be able to critically read and analyze sources to create an historical interpretation.
  7. At the completion of this program students will be able to identify and distinguish various historical interpretations and approaches.
  8. At the completion of this program students will be able to demonstrate the ability to understand multiple causality and change and continuity in historical events.
  9. At the completion of this program students will be able to express historical ideas fluently, logically, and coherently in a variety of forms and contexts.
